"We may shine, we may shatter, we may be picking up the pieces here on after.
We are fragile, we are human, we are shaped by the light we let through us.
But we break fast, 'cause we are glass."
Thompson Square
Recently I've been thinking about choices, and how different choices affect our lives. Choosing to go into a certain major, choosing to get a job, choosing to get married, choosing to move out. All these decisons are so different some choices can be good, others can really impact your life. Some for good and other in a negative way. But, in the end it's our choice. We decide what we are going to do with our lives, and that's all apart of learning and growing in this life. That's why our Heavenly Father gave us our agency. We have the prvillage of deciding things for ourselves rather than having our whole life layed out for us. However, some choices lead us down the wrong path. Down a road that seems to be ok, but really isn't because we are either blinded by what's infront of us or we are just too distracted to hear what others are telling us...screaming at us till they're blue in the face to keep us from going in the wrong direction. But, it doesn't work, the yelling, screaming, and pleading doesn't work because the destraction has become too big and that's when we just have to put the yelling and screaming in the Lords hands. We just have to trust him that he will guide the ones that we love so much back toward the direction and path they need to be going on. It's left up to prayer, and pleading with the Lord that he will guide them.
It's so hard watching the ones we love drift...it breaks your heart and sure the anger and frustration is in you, but at one point you have to stop. Stop and say there's nothing more I can do and to let go of the anger that's in you so that you can move on with your life as well. Satan is the one causing the anger. He wants you to be angry and sure it's ok to be angry, but you can't let it consume you. We have to learn how to overcome the anger.
Like the lyrics from the song above, 'Glass' by Thompson Square. As human beings we are so fragile and anything can either define us and make us shine, but then you turn around and anything can break you. Break you into a million pieces of glass scattered all over. Leaving nothing, but a mess. A mess that is sharp and hard to clean up. Picking up the broken pieces you have to be careful because you could cut yourself again on one of the shards that are hard to see. But, if we let the light through it will help us shine and put ourselves back together. Even when we're lost and confused or have ones we love that are confused we just have to let the Light of Christ into our lives where we will be filled with the love, compassion that we have once felt before.
Life is a messy, scary, sharp, and brilliant thing! We just have to pray that we can stay strong and push through and still make the most of it!
